Final Proposal

The idea I had for my project was to build on my old GGS 310 Digital Cartography map. The background for this map is that, for the past 3 summers I have been traveling the USA with my band, performing in various cities. We put on a marching band type of show that thousands of people come to watch throughout the summer. I wouldn't essentially take this exact map, but I would still want to keep the theme of a progression road map. When constructing this road map, I noticed that the static line map didn't do itself justice. It was confusing to tell which direction the map was progressing. So my vision for this new Flash map is that you would see the line progress throughout the travels, see pop-ups of destinations, play some music in the background that I performed throughout the summer, and basically provide more life to this static map. The audience for this map would just be for general interest on the activity. This map is definitely for personal enjoyment seeing that I have been to all these places and performed. The data I would use would be more so location point data. But, I could also use road data to provide a more detailed motion caret of the travel bus. I could also add videos from certain events to provide a better visual representation of what actually happens. I want to basically make a detailed interactive road map. The tactics I would use would be based around the first couple labs with roll-overs, buttons, hyperlinks, shape-tweens, motion carets, timelines, and background music. I would also like to possibly add a panning screen that hovers over the certain area of focus. I think this would be great to expand on a project that I am personally connected to.

1st weekly blost post of 411

http://www.flightradar24.com/38.85,-77.31/7

I find this interactive map pretty interesting. This is a map of a airplane flight radar. This radar map functions in real-time, showing the paths and locations of all airplanes flying. This map gives the viewer a grand sense of how crowded the airspace is and the mass number of real-time flights.
